FAQ's
What if I'm too anxious to join a group?
We understand that joining a group can feel intimidating, especially if you're already anxious. Rest assured, this program is designed with that in mind. You’ll be in a closed group where you'll get to know the other participants. Everyone will have similar challenges, and you’ll find comfort in knowing you’re not alone. The environment is supportive, non-judgmental, and paced to meet your needs.
How many people will be in the group?
We will have a maximum of 15 participants in this group.
Where and when will these be held?
This group is held online (from the comforts of wherever you choose!). A link will be sent prior to the first session
What if I can't attend all the sessions due to my schedule?
To preserve the confidentiality of the group, we will not be offering recordings to the group members. If you do miss a session, we will provide you with catch up group resources and practice exercises and a summary of what was missed.
What equipment and technology will I need?
You will need a device capable of accessing "Zoom". This can be a computer, laptop, iPad or iPhone. We will send you a link prior to the start of the program so you can test the functionality of your device. We also recommend using headphones. Please note, the hosts are not responsible for your devices and we recommend you test your access to zoom prior to the program (update and download as necessary).
How much time outside of the group sessions will I need to commit to the program?
For optimum results, the skills taught in the group will need to be practised by the participant. The more these skills are practices, the more "automatic" they become
Will I be required to share personal experiences in the group?
No, you can simply observe
How is confidentiality maintained within the group?
One of the fundamental group guidelines will be to respect privacy and do not share contents outside of the group. We must note though that we are not in control of this and we trust others will respect this. As it is a group, nothing can be guaranteed so therefore share what you are comfortable with this in mind. The facilitators record and store each session for training and professional use only according to AHPRA professional guidelines.
What if I feel uncomfortable or overwhelmed during the group sessions?
We will encourage you to utilise the skills learned in the group and message the hosts in the group chat. We can book you in for 1:1 sessions with another clinician at the practice if required
How will the effectiveness of the online program compare to in-person therapy or support groups?
Research suggests that online group programs can be just as effective as in-person groups.
What platform will be used for the online sessions, and is it user-friendly?
We will use zoom which is a widely used online platform for online meet-ups and groups. A link will be sent to your email which can be used for each session.
Are there any prerequisites or requirements for joining the program?
No. You need not have engaged in therapy or DBT work to join the group.
Can I speak with someone to discuss whether the program is the RIGHT FIT FOR ME BEFORE ENROLLING?
Email us at [email protected] and we can answer your questions
What qualifications and expertise does the program facilitator possess?
Najaf is a registered psychologist currently undergoing her clinical registrar program. She has worked in hospital and school settings facilitating group work and therapy.
Can I review testimonials or success stories from past participants?
