HYPNOTHERAPY
Hypnotherapy can be useful to help change the way we think, act, respond and believe. We all have an unconscious mind that is in charge of functions we rarely think about like breathing, storing and retrieving memories. Our unconscious mind stores our past experiences in the recesses of the mind and these experiences influence our everyday habits, beliefs, thought processes and emotions. Sometimes we can find the things we do very frustrating for example eating too much sugar, procrastinating, getting stressed or anxious in social situations, feeling jumpy or nervous when driving. These things can be quite manageable but when they start to impede on our quality of life and functioning it is time to get help.
Hypnotherapy can help to assist a client to identify the root causes and underlying factors connected to undesirable behaviours and "undo" these unconscious patterns. The practice of hypnotherapy uses the minds natural ability to enter into a "daydream" like state. In that "daydream" state the mind is responsive to positive suggestions to change. To enter into the hypnotic state, usually our clients will sit in one of our comfy recliner chairs with their eyes closed and listen to the therapists words. The therapist will use their voice and words to help the client create a state of relaxation in the mind. At this point, the client will be deeply relaxed but not unconscious. There is always a part of the mind that is aware of where they are and what they are doing.
Hypnotherapy is very relaxing, safe and is a skill that can be enhanced with practice. It can be useful to help:
